Cuppa and Chat
Want some help in filling in a form? Or maybe just want to say hello as you walk past on the way to work? ‘Cuppa and Chat’ is the core of what The Talk Shop is about, a nod to those days when people would pop into the neighbours’ for a cuppa and chat at any time, it’s one of those things that community should be all about.

Over the week we see people coming in to find a quiet place to sit and do some study, sometimes it’s someone who just really needs to get out of their own home and see a friendly face but wouldn’t be able to afford to go to a commercial cafe; we’ve got a great little selection of books, the Cliik Book Swap; free for people to take a new book home to read, and donate a book that they have finished reading.
Whilst not being experts, often the volunteers and staff at The Talk Shop can help sort out a problem someone might be having with an official letter, signpost people to other organisations where they can get the support they need and even (occasionally) sort out the odd tech issue. For example, one of our older regulars from the Knit & Chatter group dropped by to ask for help as she’d noticed that her tablet wasn’t picking up emails anymore. A little bit of investigation and our Cliik Community Connector managed to sort the issue and the emails started flowing again!
The Cliik Community Connector manages Cuppa and Chat, which is run day-to-day with support from our Cliik Heroes who volunteer to help staff the Talk Shop. The support of our Cliik Heroes have meant that in 2025 we have been able to extend our opening hours to include mornings as well as afternoons. Why not give a bit of your time each week? Get in touch and find out what you could offer as a Cliik Hero.
